BEDSITS in Grays could soon be transformed into a children's home under fresh plans.

MSVICH Residential Care Ltd has applied to Thurrock Council for a change of use for 210 Lodge Lane from a six-bed House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO) into a home for seven 11 to 17-year-olds.

The HMO was only granted permission in December last year!

The home will provide 24-hour care and support for the youngsters, with qualified staff on hand. The facility will include bedrooms with their own en-suite facilities, a combined communal kitchen/dining and living space, an office/therapy room and outdoor recreational areas.

The character of the building and its surroundings will remain unchanged, ensuring that the development "will not have a detrimental impact on the local area".

The applicant said: "Located in a residential area, the property offers a peaceful environment conducive to the needs of children requiring residential care.

"The proposal represents a modest and appropriate use of the property, in keeping with the established residential character of the local area.

"The proposed development addresses the demonstrable need for additional care home facilities for young people in Thurrock. It will provide specialised care and support to young individuals who may have experienced trauma, neglect, or other challenges."

The company added: "By offering a stable and nurturing environment, the care home will contribute to the well-being and development of its residents, helping them achieve positive outcomes and successfully integrate into society.

"A minimum of one staff member, along with a manager will be on site daily. The manager will stay overnight to ensure the appropriate level of care and safeguarding."

The property has three parking spaces and if approved there will be secure bicycle storage for six bicycles.
