ESSEX's Chief Constable has taken to social media to commend officers after a search at a Thurrock home revealed a cache of weapons.

The search was carried out by Thurrock's community policing team, with the assistance of armed officers from the force's specialist team.

Following the raid on the home, which included a forced entry, a man was arrested.

Chief Constable BJ Harrington said afterwards: "Great work by ThurrockCPT and EssexPoliceFSU (firearms unit). Some of these weapons look like they have been adapted for one reason only."
