ESSEX Police have confirmed they have arrested a man they want to quiz over the deaths of Vietnamese immigrants in Thurrock.

Last month Thurrock Nub News reported on the latest initiative by Essex Police as they continue to probe the deaths of 39 people, whose bodies were discovered in west Thurrock.

Today (Thursday, 11 August) the force announced a breakthrough.

A statement says: "A man we want to speak to in connection with the deaths of 39 people who were discovered in a lorry trailer in Grays in October 2019 has been detained in Romania.

"Marius Mihai Dragici, 48, has been detained by Romanian police in the city of Bucharest. It follows the execution of a European Arrest Warrant.

"An application is now being made to extradite him to the UK."
