ARTHUR Bugler Primary School in Stanford-le-Hope has retained its 'Good' rating following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The inspection highlighted numerous strengths, affirming the school's commitment to providing a high-quality education and supportive learning environment. 

Inspectors praised the pupils for their positive behaviour, describing them as "extremely polite, friendly, and welcoming," with a genuine pride in their school. Pupils' attitudes to learning and excellent conduct were particularly noted. 

The Ofsted report also recognised the high expectations set by staff for pupil achievement, highlighting the carefully designed, well-sequenced curriculum and the clear, creative approach teachers employ in lessons. Special mention was made of the school's effective support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), enabling them to achieve well despite challenges. 

Further accolades were given for the extensive enrichment opportunities provided by the school, including community involvement, fundraising initiatives, musical performances, and successes in national writing competitions. 

While Ofsted identified one area for improvement related to ensuring teachers consistently check pupils' understanding during lessons, this was something the school had already proactively addressed. A spokesperson for the school said it 'continues to strengthen this aspect through ongoing staff training and targeted suppor't. 

Newly appointed executive headteacher Miss Lisa Glandfield, who began her teaching career at Arthur Bugler Infant School and played a key role in its amalgamation with the Junior School, brings extensive leadership experience from her previous roles, notably as head of Stanford-le-Hope Primary and Strategic Lead within the Osborne Co-operative Academy Trust.

Miss Glandfield said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be back overseeing Arthur Bugler Primary School, a place that holds such special memories for me.

"I'm committed to building upon our recent successes, particularly the wonderful recognition from Ofsted, and ensuring every child continues to thrive and reach their full potential.

"I look forward to working closely with our dedicated staff, supportive parents, committed governors, and the wider community to maintain our high standards and make Arthur Bugler Primary School an exceptional place for all pupils."
