Bags of thanks for new sensory room

By Neil Speight 12th Oct 2020

YEAR six pupils at a Thurrock primary school have helped say thank-you to supporters and friends of the school who have helped create a new sensory room.

It was hoped that there would be a celebration tea party with invited guests at Horndon on the Hill Primary to mark the opening of the new facility.

But, because of coronavirus prevention guidelines, that could not happen and instead the school has sent special thank-you gifts to those who helped.

Interim Head of School Debbie Bradley said: "It was our plan to celebrate the completion of the sensory room with an afternoon tea party held at the school.

"This was not possible but we could not let the generosity of those who made donations so that we could buy equipment for the sensory room, go unnoticed.

"Class Six designed some amazing thank-you cards and these were included in an afternoon tea goody bag given to all the kind residents who were so generous.

"Our thanks also extend to Mrs Gaynor Bray (our Special Educational Needs and Disability coordinator), who knew exactly what equipment we needed to get, and to Mr Stuart Blackmore who patiently installed all this equipment.

"The room is looking amazing and we hope to add photographs to our website before the end of this half term."
