MEMBERS of the Bata Heritage Centre in East Tilbury are preparing for a two centre open day next month.

It will take place on Saturday, 4 September and the event will start at 10am primarily from the old administration block (building 13) in the former factory site – opposite the Bata Memorial Park.

Volunteers will be on hand to greet and chat to visitors.

At the same time a couple of the other volunteers will be in East Tilbury library to guide people around the centre. Weather permitting it is hoped to have some displays outside the library as well.

The Building13 side of the event will end at 1pm and after some of the volunteers have relocated the artefacts back to storage they will regroup in the library until around 4pm.

During the day guided walks that all start from Building 13 and will end up at the library.

There will also be a short talk about Bata in the library during the early afternoon.
