DEVELOPERS hoping to build eight houses on open space on a Tilbury housing estate say the loss of the land will be 'negligible.'

An application has been submitted to Thurrock council to build eight two-bedroom, two-storey dwellings in two separate terraces of four dwellings each on the land at Kipling Avenue.

The applicants say the new homes will be constructed with similar proportions to the adjacent properties with a similar palette of materials.

In their submission to the council they say: "It is prudent to note that this site is privately owned and has been for some time. Whilst it is open, it is not parkland, open sports or recreational land.

"The site is small at 1485sq.m and its loss is negligible; and secondly, there are accessible 'formal open space' alternatives with more facilities in Fielding and Cowper Avenue (two-minute walk) and King George's Field off Feenan Highway / St. Chads Road (4-minute walk)."

The full application and the opportunity to comment can be found via this link.
