THURROCK Council has advised residents that they can dispose of additional waste that has accrued after the holiday period by leaving it next to bins in time for this week's round of collections.

Normally only material inside the bins is collected but this week the council will make an exception. However, it will have to be prepared properly.

A statement says: "Our waste and recycling crews will collect excess flattened cardboard put next to the blue bin, and excess side waste tied-up in black bin bags put next to your green/grey bin, until 8 January on your scheduled collection day."
