Borough infection rate continues to drop: 422 local deaths have been recorded

THE Covid-19 infection rate for Thurrock continues to reflect the national trend of a decrease in cases.

And, after many weeks of being in the top-listed flight of areas with the most infections, the current average of 116 cases per 100,000 people in the borough is exactly at the national average.

Latest figures for the week leading up to Sunday, 14 February show there were 203 cases of infection in the borough - down 80 from the previous week.

In total up to today Thursday, 18 February) there have bee b17,176 confirmed cases.

Of those, up to Friday, 5 February, 422 have resulted in deaths related to the virus.
