Bowled over at VE Day event

MEMBERS of Thames Sports Bowls Club on North Road in Purfleet marked VE Day (Thursday, 8 May) with a celebration at the club, many attired in red, white and blue.
The club's Lindsay Randall said: "We had a very enjoyable day with food including spam sandwiches, and jam sandwiches.
"We played a friendly game of bowls and then had a VE Day style sing-along. Lots of us dressed up and we all had a great time.
"Anyone interested in playing bowls should pop up and see us on a Tuesday evening about 7pm."
