SIGNIFICANT disruption is expected this coming weekend when the Orsett Cock roundabout will be partially closed as part of the ongoing A13 widening project.
And the A13 will be closed in both directions at the junction for the demolition of the old Orsett West Bridge. Traffic will be diverted via the slip roads at the junction.
In addition, the new Orsett West Bridge will be closed during the demolition.
The diversion for traffic wishing to head northbound on the roundabout will be via the A13 westbound to the A1012 Stifford Interchange and back again via the A13 eastbound.
The closures will be in place from 9pm on Friday, 4 June until 5am on Monday, 7 June.
A statement to nearby residents from Thurrock Council says: "The work will generate noise and some vibration, and we would like to apologise in advance for the disturbance that this causes you.
"Dust suppression equipment will be used on site to minimise the spread of dust produced by the demolition. This produces a fine mist that may be visible in the air but does not pose a risk to health."
In addition, from tomorrow (Tuesday, 1 June) the roundabout will have lane closures in place to enable works to continue to construct the new road layout.
For safety reasons, the lane closures will be in place 24 hours a day and the council says road users should expect some congestion on the approach to the roundabout, especially during peak times.
