RESIDENTS looking to take the next step in their careers met leading employers and training providers at a careers fair hosted by Thurrock Council at the Thameside Theatre on Thursday, 15 October.
The free event, delivered in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and sponsored by Statera Energy, brought together employers and training providers from the construction, green skills, transport and logistics sectors.
Visitors had the opportunity to speak directly with employers about current vacancies, apprenticeships and training opportunities, while also finding out more about careers support available in Thurrock.
A quieter session was also held for neurodiverse residents, helping to ensure the event was accessible to as many people as possible.

Employers and organisations in attendance included Balfour Beatty & Bouygues Murphy, McLaughlin Harvey, MEARS, M Group Ltd, Reliable Contractors, SCP Construction and HDS Tilbury, alongside education and training providers including USP College, Thurrock Adult Community College, The Skills Centre and Inspire Employability and Skills.
Andrew Troup, Chief Development Officer at Statera Energy, said: "It was great to be involved with the Thurrock Council's Construction, Green Skills, Transport and Logistics Jobs Fair and meet so many people interested in working in construction and energy. With so many opportunities across the sector, events like this help people discover what is out there and make informed decisions about their future careers.
"With 300 MW battery storage already operating and 450 MW of flexible generation being brought online in Thurrock, Statera is looking forward to supporting local jobs and skill for many years to come."
Cllr Milena Bingley, cabinet member for Education, Skills and Children's Services, said: "It is fantastic so many residents took the opportunity to meet employers and training providers and explore the career paths available to them.
"The construction, green skills, transport and logistics sectors continue to offer exciting opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds, whether they are starting their careers, looking to retrain or considering a new direction.
"Thank you to all of the employers, training providers and partners who supported the event. By bringing together organisations with residents who are ready to develop their skills and find work, we are helping to create brighter futures and support economic growth across Thurrock.
"If you weren't able to attend but would like careers advice or support, there is a wide range of help available through our careers service."
