A SOUTH Ockendon company, SEIB Insurance Brokers is set to give £60,600 to good causes in their 60th year in business in 2023.

Borough residents are being encouraged to nominate their favourite charity to receive a share of the donation and nominations are now open.

SEIB started in business as South Essex Insurance Brokers in 1963 and will turn 60 next year. The company plans to celebrate this milestone by giving £60,600 to good causes at the sixth annual running of the SEIB Awards in July 2023.

In recent years, through SEIB Giving, the broker has helped the causes that mean the most to their loyal clients to the tune of £250,000.

SEIB Giving will see one winning charity receive a grant of £15,060 at the 2023 SEIB Awards, a small charity with a turnover of under £100,000 will receive £12,060 and the remaining £33,480 will go to eight runners-up.

All winning charities and not-for-profit organisations will be nominated by the general public and then voted for by customers of SEIB. The donations will be presented at the SEIB Awards which will be held in the summer of 2023.

The public are invited to put their nominations forward for their favourite charities.

Nominations are now open and will close at 5pm on the 16th January 2023. Once a shortlist of charities has been drawn up, SEIB clients will have the final vote. The winning charity and runners up will be announced at the 2023 SEIB Awards luncheon.

SEIB Chief Executive Officer Suzy Middleton explained: "Our business has grown and changed so much over the past 60 years, yet our values of putting something back along with our goal of providing an unsurpassed service remain at the heart of what we do.

"Particularly during these economically challenging times I am delighted that we are able to get much needed funds to the causes that really matter to our loyal customers. It only takes a moment to nominate a favourite charity and these funds will make a difference to some of those that are really struggling."

In 2023, SEIB Giving is focusing on smaller charities and the maximum annual turnover for charities able to take part is capped at £10m.

The 2023 SEIB Awards will also feature the much-anticipated SEIB Insurance Brokers Yard of the Year Awards in association with Horse & Hound and for the first time British Equestrian.

The awards celebrate the very best throughout the country in livery yards, riding schools, RDA centres and competition venues.

SEIB is welcoming British Equestrian on board for the Yard of the Year awards in 2023. Jim Eyre, Chief Executive of British Equestrian said: "We're delighted to support the SEIB Yard of the Year Awards for the first time. Yards are the lifeblood of our industry and essential for driving welfare standards, the training of horsemanship and providing an environment for all to flourish.

"Those establishments who achieve excellence should be celebrated, commended, and thanked for their contribution, so if a yard you use has made a difference, please nominate them."

Editor-in-Chief at Horse & Hound, Sarah Jenkins said of the magazine's continued support of the Yard of the Year awards: "Horse & Hound is happy to be associated with SEIB's yard of the year awards again in 2023, having thoroughly appreciated the calibre of entries in 2022. When times are tough, it means even more knowing that the people you are working for truly appreciate all your efforts. No doubt riders and owners will be equally keen this year to ensure their favourites, who always go the extra mile, are recognised in this way."

Always known for 'putting something back', SEIB is a commercial business with a charitable purpose. The company insures numerous charities and not for profit organisations. SEIB is an independent broker but is ultimately owned by a charity.

No charity, yard or venue is too small to be in the running for SEIB Giving 2023 and the SEIB Yard of the Year awards, but turnover for charities or not-for-profit organisations nominated for SEIB Giving is capped at £10m. All charities and not-for-profit organisations will need to be registered, have a year of published accounts and operate in the UK.

From supporting grass roots competition that gives opportunities to amateur riders that they could only otherwise dream about, right through to the company's support of good causes, SEIB's ethos is one of constant support and providing opportunity.
