POLICE attended (1.15pm) an accident which caused the closure of Buckingham Hill Road close to Stanford-le-Hope.

Today's (Sunday, 10 January) incident which closed the road in both directions appeared to be a non injury collision between vehicles.

It was expected the road would be reopened around 2pm.

Local residents have responded to news of the crash, https://thurrock.nub.news/n/crashes-cause-delays-but-are-not-serious by asking if mud is a factor. The road is used to transport materials to and from the nearby A13 road widening project.

East Tilbury councillor Fraser Massey says he will ask the council to look into the possible cause of the crashes and to check if sufficient road cleaning is happening. He added: "Because of the volume of traffic, the road is shot to pieces. Factor in mud and ice and it's a skating rink."
