HUNDREDS of LEGO sets have been delivered to hospital children's wards, ensuring young patients can build their Christmas cheer, one brick at a time.

The block-busting donation to the paediatric wards at Basildon, Southend and Broomfield hospitals came courtesy of LEGO, and one of its partner charities Fairy Bricks - helping bring smiles to children with health challenges during the holidays.

From Disney and Marvel sets, to everything in between, these LEGO creations are designed to spark creativity and provide a much-needed distraction for young patients during their hospital stay.

Lisa Kawa-Akenbo, Lead Health Play Specialist at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, said: "It's incredible to see how these little bricks can bring so much joy and help create a sense of normalcy during a tough time for these children. This donation makes a big lasting impact for them."

In preparation for Christmas, all Trust hospitals are accepting donations of patient gifts. All donations need to be made via the hospital's charity, rather than direct to wards. For details of how to donate new and unused items call 01702 385337 or email [email protected].
