BULPHAN WI members started 2023 with a competitive Beetle Drive session in January, followed by a presentation of this year's four NFWI Resolution Selection topics.

Members then had the opportunity to choose their preferred resolution to go forward to NFWI Annual Meeting in June.

Members had started collecting scarfs, hats and toiletries for the QVSR Tilbury Seafarers Centre before lockdown so you can imagine the amount items they handed over to centre manager Julie when she attended their latest meeting in February.

Julie explained how the centre worked, the short amount of time some of the crew have on shore, their love of London-themed fridge magnets and that volunteers wrapped and handed out more than 3,000 presents last Christmas.

The branch will be arranging visits to the centre and members were keen to go on the present wrapping rota.

March will bring a return visit of one of the branch's favourite speakers, Reverend Nicholas Henderson, who will continue his always entertaining set of talks about the wives of Henry VIII with Folly and Finale, featuring Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr. There will also be a full sale table and raffle to add to the fun.

If you would like to find out more or come along as a visitor you can find updates about future meetings, information, photographs, and much more on Facebook at Bulphan Women's Institute and on Twitter @bulphanwi or contact us via Secretary Janet McCheyne on 07752836902 or email [email protected]
