A PETITION calling on Thurrock Council to repair damaged verges and install preventative parking barriers was put to the authority this evening.

It was presented by South Ockendon councillor David Potter who advised councillors about problems on the Flowers estate in his ward.

He said: "Residents have constantly complained they are unable to park on their drives because they have been blocked by commuters.

"The petition calls on the council to consult with residents on what parking conditions they would like on their streets."
