A PETITION from residents of a Grays road where parking has become hugely problematic following the demolition of the former Grays Adult Community College and other works was handed in at last night's meeting of Thurrock Council (Wednesday, 23 February).

It was delivered by resident Kevin Lamb who told councillors the residents of Richmond Road in Grays were at their wits end over problems and could no longer park near their homes.

The petition calls for the creation of a parking permit zone to ensure residents had a place to park close to their residence.

He said: "We want the council to look at this. It is a serious problem which has been exacerbated by the closure of the college car park and shoppers from the town parking here.

"We have spoken to all the residents who want and support this, with the exception of four who don't have cars."
