A new COVID-19 vaccination campaign has launched across Thurrock and wider South Essex encouraging uptake of the protective jab.

The campaign includes adverts on the back of 83 buses serving bus routes in the borough and beyond.

The campaign also features on travel screens in high streets, bus stations, train stations, bus stops across Thurrock.

Radio ads with the same message are being broadcast and numerous other streaming channels such as podcasts and social media.

A spokesperson for the local NHS Covid team said: "As part of our ambition to ensure everyone is across mid and south Essex is vaccinated we have been working with different communities across the county and engaging with them to ensure nobody is excluded.

"One example of this is the Essex Vax Van which is being used to bring clinics to people who may also face barriers to accessing traditional health services.

"Working alongside faith leaders, we have recently facilitated two vaccination clinics at Chelmsford Muslim Society and the Braintree Islamic Centre where we were able to vaccinate a number of people from the Muslim community. As well as the work with local faith leaders and community groups there has also been work with travelling and homeless communities.

"We continue to work with local partners and other trusted community voices to provide targeted virtual group talks, podcasts, videos in different languages, and translated resources."
