VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help with the smooth-running of a celebration event in Tilbury later this month.

Many residents from Thurrock took part in the Queens Platinum Jubilee Pageant last Sunday (5 June) in Central London and they will be reprising their roles in the 'Thank You Dance!' parade when it comes to Tilbury on Saturday, 25 June as part of the 'T100 People' festival.

A procession will make its way from Tilbury town to the Port of Tilbury Open Day at the Cruise Terminal. The parade celebrates all the amazing people across the borough who have worked so hard to keep their communities safe and secure during the last two years.

Organisers need able-bodied volunteers for road marshalling, litter picking, helping with refreshments for the dancers and other tasks. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer between 11am and 4pm use this link to sign up.

Events that are part of the T100 festival began with the Platinum Jubilee event in Purfleet last week and has continued with 11 other scheduled walks and events. The Thank You Dance! features performers drawn from across generations in Thurrock who will wear hand-painted silks and hold vibrant flags designed and made by community groups from Tilbury, Grays, and Purfleet-on-Thames. It presents a 'Thank You' to the Queen for 70 years of public service and to key workers and all those who selflessly contribute to society, looking after our communities and laying the foundation for a better life for generations to come.

The Thank You Dance Parade will leave Tilbury Civc Square at 1pm, and will arrive at the Cruise Terminal at 2.30pm.

If you'd like to attend the flag waving workshop at 12 noon and dance along with the parade, meet up at the registration point in Anchor Fields Park. Booking is essential for this. If you'd like to view the procession, attend Civic Square or any safe roadside pavement along the route. You do not need to book at ticket to view the parade.

If you'd just like to attend the Port Open Day, and not join any walks, this is free, open to all and doesn't need to be booked.

Schedule

  • Meeting Point / Time: 12.45pm, Anchor Fields Park, RM18 8AD
  • Walk begins: 1pm
  • 2.30pm: Finale Performance for Port Open Day
  • 2.30pm - 5pm: Port Open Day Activities
