A CAR fire that left a vehicle burnt out, blocked a slip road in Stanford-le-Hope this evening (Wednesday, 4 September).

Residents close to the slip road off the Manorway, descending to the Hassengate roundabout, reported hearing an explosion around 8pm followed by the sight of flames.

Police closed the slip road in both directions while the incident was dealt with.

Even though the fire was extinguished, the wreckage remained in place awaiting recovery and the road was still closed at 9.30pm.
