AN overturned car caused huge tailbacks into Kent on the M25 this morning (Wednesday, 10 March).

The vehicle crashed on the northbound carriageway of the M25 just after the Dartford tunnel exit close to the junction 31 roundabout

Emergency services attended the incident, with the vehicle on its roof.

The crash caused significant congestion in the area with long tailbacks through to Kent. At one point they stretched back five miles. Both tunnels were closed and Highways England said: "All traffic stopped on the northbound approach to the Dartford Crossing due to an overturned vehicle."

They updated a message around 9am saying: "Update - All lanes are now open on M25, however delays of 45 minutes above the usual travel time remain on approach with over four miles of congestion. These are now expected to ease, thank you."
