Car on its roof after crash that closed Buckingham Hill Road

Buckingham Hill Road has historically been a problematic traffic spot and this afternoon's crash is the latest in a sequence of accidents.

A CAR overturned after a crash outside the Civic Amenity recycling centre on Buckingham Hill Road near Stanford-le-Hope this afternoon (Sunday, 20 September).

Essex Police say: "Two vehicle collision, no reported injuries.

"It happened on Buckingham Hill Road at about 2.15pm.

A statement from Thurrock Council around 3.20pm said: "Buckingham Hill Road is currently closed following a road traffic collision outside the Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC).

"The HWRC is also closed and drivers are advised to avoid the area and follow alternative routes.

"Please allow extra time for your journey if travelling in the surrounding area."

There is no diversion available by Walton's Hall Farm which is closed because of sewer works.

At 4pm the road was open and the accident cleared away.

I don't know the cause of the accident and I hope everyone is ok, painting double white lines and reducing the speed limit is pointless.
They need to change the entrance so you are queuing off the road, and use barriers to stop drivers turning right into the site.
