CARERS, volunteers and supporters rallied round today (Thursday, 24 September) to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And not even heavy gusts of wind could keep spirits down or the successful event going ahead. Initially a cake stall was set up outside the offices of Manorcourt Homecare on Whitehall Lane in Grays but the wind was so strong the event had to be moved inside.

Nevertheless donations of dozens of different types of cakes from many organisations and individuals connected with Manorcourt still found buyers and the event was declared a big success.

"Our thanks to all who supported this event, our careers, volunteers and of course, the lovely people who donated so many wonderful things for us to sell! It's been a lot of fun and it's great to help such a fantastic cause," said Karen Exley, manager at Manorcourt.
