VETERANS and serving military personnel of all conflicts and wars and on the Home Front will be welcomed at Purfleet-on-Thames' Heritage and Military Centre this weekend.

On Sunday (26 June) the centre, on Centurion Way (RM19 1ZZ) will be open from 10am to 3pm to celebrate Armed Forces' Day.

There will be cannon firing and a Heritage Bus courtesy of the Ensign Bus Company.

At noon the Last Post, followed by a one minute silence will be observed. The Dipping of the Royal Air Force Regiment Standard will carried out by Len Milledge ex RAF Regiment. This part of the day will end with the National Anthem.

The Heritage Bus is terrific for photo shoots inside or out. Sitting on the cannon makes another memorable photo.

Inside the Centre you will find much to see, including the New Gurkha Regiment area commemorating 207 years that they have been attached to the British Army, but it is not all Military. And the Queen's Jubilee Display is still mounted for visitors to enjoy.

The tea bar will be open for refreshments including cold drinks. There is also a children's play area.
