THE Conservatives pulled off a major shock to claim Chadwell St Mary.

The seat was vacated by veteran Gerard Rice and former borough mayor Carl Morris stepped in for what looked a surefire win but young Tory Adam Carter sprang the evening's major shock by winning by 118 votes.
