RESIDENTS in Thurrock are getting the chance to comment on the size and make up of wards on the borough council after a review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE).

The commission has been examining the size and demographic nature of Thurrock and has decided has decided that the number of councillors should remain at 49.

However, that review has highlighted some potential changes and the LGBCE wants to make sure councillors represent the same number of electors, and that ward arrangements help the council work effectively.

They have launched a ten-week consultation to hear what residents and organisations think about their local area and understand what facilities and problems are shared by each community.

The consultation will use local views to help it draw up proposals for new ward boundaries. There will be a further round of consultation once the Commission has drawn up those proposals.
