Changes to bin collection dates are unrolled

By Nub News Reporter 20th Feb 2025

THURROCK Council has begin to notify resdients of planned changes to bin collection days as it modifies its service as part of its Waste Collection Route Optimisation project, an initaitive described as a 'key component' in its money saving plans for the next financial year.

From the week commencing 24 February 2025, 14,448 residents will experience a change to their collection day or week.

Letters notifying the affected residents of these changes are being sent out this week to ensure they are informed in advance.

The letter outlines the following key information:

  • Collections will continue on an alternate weekly schedule for general waste and recycling.
  • Food waste will be collected weekly on the new collection day.
  • Brown garden waste bins (for subscribers) will also be collected on the new schedule.

In addition to the letter, residents are being encouraged to check the council's website at thurrock.gov.uk/bindays for more information and confirmation of their new collection days (if they've changed).
