AN event has been planned for later this year in Thurrock to raise awareness about recent changes in the Highway Code with regards to safety for horses and cyclists.

The new guidelines are to overtake horses at a speed of under 10mph with a clearance of two meters.

A nationwide campaign has been started to highlight the changes and one of the rides as part of that campaign will be held in Horndon on the Hill.

It will be on Sunday, 18 September starting in Robinson Road, and finishing at the Swan Pub. Cyclists 11.30, horses 12pm (local riders only as no lorry parking available).
