Charity celebrates launch of tenth local group with an Easter party
By Nub News Reporter 3rd Apr 2026
JUST in time for Easter, Thurrock branch of the Re-engage charity, which supports lonely, elderly or vulnerable people, launched their tenth local residents guest group at Headon Hall in Stifford Clays.
Regional organiser Loraine Coleman said: "What a wonderful afternoon of companionship, conversation and laughter.
"Our guests enjoyed a beautifully themed Easter Tea Party hosted by our lovely volunteer, Maggie. The food was amazing, with delicious treats both savoury and sweet — and to top it all off, we even had a visit from the Easter Bunny, who brought plenty of Easter goodies for our guests.

"The beautiful Easter decorations were exceptional. The whole afternoon was filled with warmth, joy and the chance to build new friendships. A very big thank you to Maggie and to Michelle from Crumb Didili Yum for donating the very beautiful Easter cake. Your talent and generosity are truly appreciated.
"Our thanks also go to the generous staff at Iceland, Corringham, for donating a huge selection of cakes, and to Bernie for the lovely homemade cupcakes.

"Thank you Lee for joining us for support from Re-engage Head Office.
"A heartfelt thank you to Cara and her fabulous volunteers, who helped make today so special — welcoming our guests, driving, serving, and ensuring everyone felt cared for. We could not do this without you.
"We were delighted to have Kelly, Community Engagement Lead for DP World, with us to share in the excitement of this new group launch.

"London Gateway Freeport Community Investment Fund have given us wonderful support and incredible funding for Re-engage Thurrock. Their generosity enables us to bring these precious monthly gatherings to older people in our community, helping to reduce loneliness and create lasting connections.
"Here's to many happy tea parties ahead for Thurrock 10!"
