A GROUP of lady darts players are hoping to hit the target with a raffle in aid of a charity close to their hearts.

The team of players from Chadwell St Mary Club, known as 'The Chadwell Crew' compete regularly with other teams from across Thurrock and Basildon.

They fundraise for the kidney research charity, St Peter's Trust and to date have collected more than £50,000.

They were inspired to do so because of the story of the daughter of the team captain, Sue McBride. Her daughter Gemma has had two kidney transplants in a bid to combat many ongoing health problems, but both have failed.

Her first transplant, using a kidney from her dad, Danny, last just a year and her second was rejected almost immediately.

The transplants were two of four major operations Gemma has undergone, she has also had open heart surgery twice. She is currently undergoing home dialysis four times a week.

The current raffle, which will be drawn at Chadwell Club on Wednesday, 8 December, has many prizes including a large booze hamper!

If anyone would like to support the raffle you can order and pay for tickets on Paypal by emailing [email protected]. Tickets are also available at the club on Riverview.
