WORK will be taking place this week to improve the safety of several stretches of road in Thurrock.

Highways England has announced that there will be overnight road closures on the A13 from junction 31 going east to the Orsett Cock junction and on link and approach roads to it, including the Dock Approach Road to Tilbury - as far down as the Marshfoot junctions.

The closures will necessitate the 24 hour closure of some lay-bys.

Engineers will be undertaking resurfacing, road marking, drainage improvements and other repairs and associated works.

Closures will begin from tomorrow evening (Monday, 13 July) and will last for some time. The temporary traffic orders associated with the works are valid for up to 17 months!

Highways England have not given a deadline for completion of the work, which at some point will affect the M25, A282 (Dartford crossing), A13, A102, A126, A1012, A1089. A1306 and B189.

Road closures and diversions will be in place as the work takes place overnight between 10pm and 5.30am on Mondays to Thursday, 11pm to 6am on Fridays, 10pm to 6am on Saturdays and 10.30pm to 5.30am on Sundays.
