THE Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock marked the Christmas period with a donation to Corringham-based Thurrock Foodbank to help those in need during the festivities.

Club president Adrian Alsop popped along to the foodbank HQ to hand over a presentation cheque for £500 – though the funds had been electronically transferred to make sure they were available over the holiday.

Meanwhile the foodbank has also issued a year-ending message of thanks to all supporters, saying: "We would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who has donated food or money during this unusual year and we are very grateful to our dedicated volunteers who have worked tirelessly through the year."
