Collision involving police car blocks Stanford Road at junction. Two officers and car driver injured

A POLICE car has been involved in a collision with at least one other vehicle just outside Grays this evening.

The incident happened around or just after 7pm at the junction of Stanford Road and Heath Road.

No one is reported to have been seriously injured though the ambulance service attended.

The road is blocked and traffic is being diverted via Orsett or Chadwell St Mary.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We received a report from one of our officers that a car and a police vehicle had been involved in a collision in Stanford Road, Grays, at about 6.25pm on Thursday 12 October. Officers closed the road while we and emergency service colleagues worked at the scene.

"One occupant of the car and two police officers were taken to hospital. No serious injuries were reported from the scene.

"The road was cleared at about 9.30pm."
