THURROCK residents will be able to enjoy two performances of a comedic version of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' in the run up to Christmas.

The Complete Commedia Company, a Thurrock-based collective of performers and theatre makers who specialise in performance of Commedia dell'Arte, will be presenting a retelling of one of Dickens' best loved tales.

The candle lit performances for all the family will take place at St Cedds Church, Stifford Clays on Friday 10 December at 7pm and St Giles and All Saints Church, Orsett, on Friday, 17 December at 7pm

Doors open at 6.30pm and there will be mince pies, mulled wine and plenty of festive spirit in the atmospheric setting of the two churches.

The performances are completely free and will be suitable for all ages from toddlers to grandparents. After the show, audience members can meet the cast and learn more about how they brought the story to life in a modern, comedic style.

Booking is essential and can be made via this link.

A new documentary showing the fun the company had during the summer working with local schools will be launched on its website on Tuesday, 14 December at 12.30pm.
