Aveley Christmas tree and street lights switch-on proved a popular event and is the forerunner to another local community event later this month.

Aveley Primary School Singing Group took centre stage at the switch on and sang four carols and 'Last Christmas'.

Joining local residents at the even were co-sponsors Tina Varley (B&P Scrap Co Ltd) and Dennis Mason (Nicky Mason Memorial Fund), who along with Aveley Village Community Foundation funded this year's Christmas tree and street lights.

The Foundation will be hosting the annual Christmas Market on Sunday, 8 December in Aveley High Street. It is open from 11am to 3pm.
