THURROCK residents supported by the Re-engage charity are in for a special VE Day celebration thanks to support from across the borough community.

The charity (formerly known as Contact the Elderly) supports lonely, elderly people in the borough by hosting tea parties and other events.

To celebrate VE Day Friday, the charity is planning to deliver surprise afternoon tea boxes to the charity's guests who cannot attend social events becasue of lockdown. Also, Theresa Connolly from Petals and Plants in Corringham has kindly offered to send each guest some small flowers.

One of the charity's volunteer drivers owns 'TeaLightful' and is providing the afternoon tea boxes - with a very generous discount.

Finally, Arthur Bugler School have made cheery cards to accompany the boxes.
