OLDER folk in East Tilbury enjoyed a Christmas meal at the Village Hall today (Sunday, 22 December) thanks to a great community effort.

It is the second time the event has been held and one of the organisers is Tracey Bright who said: "What a brilliant day for the senior citizens. I just want to say thank you to everyone that came.

"A big thank you to Maxine at the Post Office, the Co-op, the cafe at the fort, Reeds Butchers, Tony the DJ, Peglar Removals, Thorns Furniture Hire, Tip2Toe, Mitchell's and Sue Simmons for organising transport.

"Also all those who made monetary donations.

"And to David Bowling and all the First Responders, Barbara Bright, Louise Wallace, Joanne Fordham, and all our amazing helpers.

"Sorry a few of you couldn't make it but everyone got a Christmas dinner. Even Chris got meals on wheels at Blackshots.

"Thank you all so much for making this happen again."
