Construction opportunities shown to students

Students at the Thurrock campus of South Essex Colleges were given an insight into careers in the building industry, thanks to a visit from a construction and development company currentl;y building new social housing in the borough.
The Auburn Group is building six new council homes at Lyndhurst Road in Corringham on behalf of Thurrock Council.
The outreach to local students is part of its commitment to deliver social value alongside new affordable housing.
Members of the Auburn Group team attended the college's Freshers Fair to speak with students about the wide range of opportunities available within the construction sector.
The team showcased career pathways including project management, surveying, health and safety, and skilled trades, helping students gain a better understanding of the diverse professions that contribute to delivering new homes and infrastructure.
Thurrock Council leader Cllr Richard Bingley said: "Providing new affordable homes is vital, but it's equally important that developments deliver wider benefits for our communities.
"It's fantastic to see Auburn Group working with local students, helping them explore future career opportunities and inspiring the skilled workforce that Thurrock will need in the years ahead."
