FIREFIGHTERS from Corringham responded to an alert last night (Sunday, 12 July) and cleared up branches and debris from a fallen tree that had blocked a slipway from the Manorway.

The access road from the northbound Manorway (A1014) to Southend Road was blocked by the fall at a point above the pedestrian tunnel linking Hardie Park to the Silvertown Avenue green space until it was cleared by retained firefighters from nearby Corringham fire station.

The overhanging branches came down last night.

A statement from Essex Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters from Corringham Fire Station were called to a tree blocking the road at 10pm.

"Firefighters made the area safe and left it in the care of the Police at 10.30pm."
