THURROCK Council have now officially responded and confirmed that tenants who have their businesses on land earmarked to be developed for new homes.

Yesterday (Monday, 22 December) Thurrock Nub News reported on a business called Fast Tracks, where the family members who run it feared they would be kicked off yesterday morning by bailiffs.

However, that didn't happened and now it has been confirmed there will be a short extension of time for the businesses to relocate – but they are on a strict timeline.

Cllr Mark Coxshall, cabinet member for regeneration and strategic planning, said: "Thurrock Council will not be asking any tenants in the Purfleet Centre Regeneration Ltd (PCRL) development area to leave their premises before Christmas.

"All tenancies within this development area are granted by the council on a short-term basis, and tenants are aware that premises may be required back at very short notice. The council is working to resolve any issues raised directly, and will work hard with tenants in this area to assist them in finding suitable new premises."
