MORE than 200 residents in Thurrock attended a careers fair today (Friday 24 October) to learn about the growing opportunities in Construction, Green Skills, Transport & Logistics.

The free event took place at The Old Court House in Grays, and was hosted by Thurrock Council in partnership with Jobcentre Plus (DWP).

Residents in attendance had the chance to meet with a range of exciting employers and training providers, including:

  • Basildon Skills Centre
  • Bouygues Murphy
  • DP World
  • Gement
  • Marlborough Highways
  • Mears
  • South Coast Port Services (SCPS)
  • South Essex College
  • STC Group
  • Thurrock Adult Community College
  • USP College

Cllr Vikki Hartstean, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Education and Community Safety, said: "I am thrilled that so many of our residents from all ages and backgrounds came along.

"There are so many exciting employment and training opportunities here in our borough, and events like this help connect residents directly with organisations and reassure them that there are plenty of career pathways out there.

Residents were able to interact with potential employers.

"If you weren't able to make it to this careers fair, there are still plenty of opportunities for you to get a helping hand.

"Make sure you're subscribed to our weekly residents' newsletter to stay up to date with when our next career fair will be taking place, and take a visit to one of our Inspire Hubs who will be able to support you with everything from CV help to job interview preparation."
