MOTORISTS and residents are remined that the A13 will be closed at the A128 (Orsett) junction this weekend for major works to demolish the old Orsett East Bridge.

The closures of the A13 start at 9pm on Friday, 2 July and remain until 1am on Monday, 5 July and traffic will be diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at the A128 (Orsett) junction.

In addition, the new Orsett East Bridge will need to be closed until 11am on Sunday, whilst the demolition takes place to ensure the safety of the travelling public. Traffic wishing to travel southbound via the Orsett Cock Roundabout will be diverted via the A13 eastbound to the A1014 (Stanford-le-Hope) junction and back again via the A13 westbound.

Road users are asked to plan their journey in advance, with non-local traffic urged to use alternative routes such as the A127.

The demolition work will generate significant noise and some vibration and Thurrock Council says it apologises in advance to nearby residents for any disturbance.
