WITH proposals for a new ward map for Thurrock set to go Parliament for a decision early next year, Thurrock Council has launched a consultation on proposals for polling station locations.

The consultation asks residents to have their say on proposals to divide wards into polling districts to make sure everyone has access to a polling station and can vote on polling day.

Cllr John Kent, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: "We want to make sure that everyone eligible to vote in Thurrock has an opportunity to cast their ballot, so it is important that we properly examine how wards are divided into polling districts and where polling stations should be located.

"No one understands our borough, and its neighbourhoods, better than our residents, so I urge everyone to take a look at this consultation and have their say on the proposals."

Once approved the new ward map and polling districts will be in place for the local elections held on 1 May 2025.

The Interim Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2024-2025 consultation is open until Monday 13 January. It can be found online at: consult.thurrock.gov.uk/interim-review-2024-2025
