AFTER concern was raised by passers by, shocked to see meat being butchered in the middle of a busty Grays street, Thurrock Council has said it will investigate the incident - and look into reports of similar activity in the town.

Nub News was alerted after people took pictures of meat being delivered and cut up from a shopping trolley on Clarence Road in Grays. It was laid on the road before being taken into a nearby store.

The owner of one premises on Clarance Road which has been linked with the meat supply, Mr Emran Azmat, has denied that the meat was taken into his premises and he has been cleared of any responsibility by Thurrock Council.

Nub News contacted the council who responded by saying: "We take all food safety reports seriously and when reports are received carries out investigations to establish what has happened and what action is required.

"Based on your information we are looking into this and will contact shop owners to investigate."
