THURROCK Council's housing portfolio holder Cllr Luke Spillman has highlighted the authority's scheme to help people who find themselves living rough on the borough's streets.

Cllr Spillman says: "Our Housing Solutions and Outreach Team has been working hard to help house rough sleepers in Thurrock to ensure they are protected from the elements.

"I'd like to thank members of the community who have also offered their support, as I was heartened to hear that one resident who alerted StreetLink to a person sleeping rough also paid their cab fare as an act of kindness.

You can watch the video above to find out more about how the Outreach Team works with StreetLink.

If you're concerned about someone sleeping rough, you can connect them to local services by sending an alert to StreetLink online, via the StreetLink app or by calling 0300 500 0914.
