TRAFFIC has backed up on the southbound M25 and on the QEII bridge following a crash involving a lorry and a crane this morning (Tuesday, 14 September) on the exit from the crossing.

Three lanes have been closed during the early morning rush because of the accident, causing queues to head back towards J30 for Lakeside and Purfleet and beyond at around 8.15am.

By 9am traffic queues had stretched back almost as far as Junction 28 on the clockwise section.

And there was significant congestion on all local approach roads to the M25 including the A13.

Just after 10am the highways agency reported: "

Reason : Congestion. Status : Currently Active. Return To Normal : Normal traffic conditions are expected between 10:00 and 10:15 on 14 September 2021. Delay : There are currently delays of 15 minutes against expected traffic."
