A HEAD-ON collision on Buckingham Hill Road between Linford and the old Stanford Road this evening (Monday 23 February 2026) brought a closure of the road and left four people injured - three who required treatment at hospital.

The crash involved two vehicles as one reportedly attempted to overtake an HGV.

The incident happened around 6.20pm and at 9pm emergency services were still on the scene, turning some traffic around via a diversion via Butts Lane and Walton's Hall Road while some were allowed to filter through.

A spokesperson from Essex Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision in Buckingham Hill Road, Linford, at 6.22pm. On arrival, crews reported two vehicles were involved.
