Initially crews from Basildon, Brentwood, Southend, Corringham, Grays and leigh attended.

Fire Group Manager Mark Eaglestone said: "The tanker was in the process of being demolished and the hot works have caused a small fire at the base of the tanker.

"The tanker did used to hold kerosene so there are small pockets of the product remaining.

"After the initial response we downgraded the incident to four fire engines and firefighters will remain on scene to extinguish and monitor hotspots."

No one was injured.
