THE community of Stanford-le-Hope said farewell this afternoon to John Green, who passed away recently aged 93.

John was a stalwart of the town's cricket club and was well known throughout the wider local community, who turned out to say farewell as his coffin left St Margaret's Church tiday (Tuesday, 15 September).

Members of the cricket club turned up to raise bats in tribute as he passed on his final journey from the church to Basildon crematorium.
